Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this too woo-woo for me?? What are other people saying?
If you’re anything like me, you may think phrases like “intuitive energy work”, and “shamanic practices” sound like they’re only for people who wear patchouli and live in la-la land. But honestly, this work is for anyone who wants to feel comfortable in their own skin.
Some of the tools I use can seem a little crazy to people who aren’t familiar with the processes. Some people view it from a straight-forward perspective, while others choose the more spiritual side. Either view is fine, and I will work within your comfort level! You don’t have to believe in it for it to work – just be open and curious!
While I use shamanic practices, I am also dedicated to making your spiritual journey one that integrates with your daily life in grounded, meaningful ways.
Here are a few testimonials to show you what I mean:
“Jennifer came into my life when I was at one of my lowest and painful times. I have grown so much spiritually and just as a person in general in a short amount of time of working with her. She makes herself available to you and really gives you 110%. Her reiki and my favorite shamanic breathwork have helped me to heal a broken heart, mourn a great loss, discover my spiritual gifts, and lead me to my purpose in life. Jennifer is a rare gem and is a life changer if you’re open and committed to changing your life. I am grateful to have her walk alongside me in my life’s journey.” – Maria M., Coaching Client
“The biggest benefit of my experience with Jen as a coach has been the process of self-realization coming to light. This process has been guided and supportive. Therefore, supplying me with useful tools and resources to carry on in my spiritual journey positively, and purposefully.” – Brandy R., Coaching Client
“I was a little skeptical about receiving Reiki at first, but Jen’s grounded presence and steady tone convinced me to give it a shot. So glad I did! After our sessions, I feel relaxed and have an overall sense of well-being; similar to a post-massage or post-yoga high. Reiki has become an integral part of my self-care routine. I look forward to each session as a time when I can relax and release all my cares of the week.” – Anna F., Intuitive Energy Work Client/Reiki Student
“I recommended Jen to help clear energy out of a newly-purchased home before my friends moved in. Their whole view of the house changed once Jen was done. They went from being nervous about moving in, to excited, motivated, and much more comfortable!” – Rory H., Intuitive Energy Work Client/Realtor
- What are your qualifications?I am a Shamanic Minister ordained by the Venus Rising Institute for Transformation, Shamanic Breathwork Facilitator certified by Venus Rising Institute for Transformation, Reiki Master teacher/practitioner certified by the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT), a Professional Member of the Reiki Membership Association (RMA), and a certified Spiritual Healer and Spiritual Life Coach by James VanPraagh. I have studied various energy healing and shamanic techniques, and worked with clients since 2015.
- What is Shamanic Breathwork?Shamanic Breathwork is a powerful ceremonial practice which uses a specific breathing pattern, chakra-attuned music, and an art process to bring conscious awareness, deep healing, and personal transformation.
Shamanic Breathwork is a very personal, experiential, and is never the same twice. It is difficult to put the magic of the experience into words.
It was created by Linda Star Wolf of Venus Rising Institute for Transformation, and includes elements of Holotropic, Integrative, and Rebirthing Breathwork, as well as the teachings of her adopted Seneca Wolf Clan Grandmother, Twylah Nitsch.
- What is a shaman?A shaman is one who bridges Earth and Spirit. Many shamanic people use altered states of consciousness to access the natural and spiritual wisdom of the Universe. I do this through drumming and Shamanic Breathwork journeys, and do not use plant medicines or other such aids. This wisdom is brought forth to provide healing for the self, community, and world at large. While I am an ordained shamanic minister and I do use several shamanic practices in my work, I do not consider myself a “shaman.”
- Shouldn't spiritual work be more... solemn? It doesn’t have to be. Often when healing begins, we get wrapped up in the heavy, seriousness of the process. We feel weighed down by the initiations and transitions we are enduring. But then we reach a point where we see that’s not all there is. We choose a higher vibration. We access another part of ourselves. Working with Jen is not about “good vibes only” or “love and light only”. The motivation is to align your soul with the vibration of joy so you can move through the harder moments with grace and ease. Jen is not about denying the more solemn side of healing, but she focuses her work around joy.
- Where are you located?Remote sessions are available on multiple online platforms. I most commonly use Zoom. In-person sessions are available in a shared office space (70 Woodfin Pl, Suite 415) in Asheville, NC, and may be made available to the Lake Lure/Chimney Rock, NC area. Call/text/E-mail me in the “Contact” section with any special requests.
- What happened to your classes?I am no longer offering regular Reiki group classes, though I do occasionally host special event classes. If you have a group that wants to learn, or you’re interested in private lessons, please reach out.
